Sustainable farming, responsible business practices: at Ammerlaan Growers, this is the most natural thing in the world. Especially for a producer of a natural product. Our sweet peppers and snack peppers are grown in accordance with all legal standards. We rely primarily on green methods: organic-based treatments or the use of natural predators. We’re also experimenting with innovative strategies, such as inverse pest management: using potato aphids to combat the harmful peach aphid, making corrective action a thing of the past. What began as a trial on 2 hectares is now being applied across our entire acreage.

Sustainable farming is in Ammerlaan’s DNA

Effective energy management
Energy consumption in the growing process has fallen significantly. This is partly due to the use of double-layered insulating screens, which prevent unnecessary energy loss. We also use solar panels, installed on the roof of the greenhouse and as floating covers on water basins. Electric boilers and a battery to store solar energy further reduce energy consumption. Where cost-effective, combined heat and power (CHP) systems are also used, ensuring that electricity consumption is kept to a minimum.
